Charity Fair - OJ Cafe

An annual project that occurs here at AdVENTURE is the Charity Fair Project. The project incorporates multiple classes and subjects, including Social Studies, Science, Math, and Language Arts. In the Social Studies portion, the class researches a charity they would like to donate the profits to. A tri-fold showcases all of your teams work, including an abstract covering what you product is, an instructable describing how to produce your given product, the cost and profit of your "business," and a detailed coverage of your chosen charity.  Once finished with each individual portion, an exhibition night is committed

towards the project. During this exhibition night, students pitch their charity (with a presentation created in ELA), then sell their product. All the profits are donated to the charity with the most accumulated votes, received from both the parents and students that attended the charity fair.

This year my team, Hoang-Ha, Herschel, and I, created Orange Cream Floats, which consisted of freshly squeezed orange juice and vanilla ice-cream. Our charity, International Fund for Animal Welfare, or IFAW, rescues and protects animals around the world. To do this, they initiate and fund projects in over 40 countries saving animals such as seals, whales, elephants, and tigers. After each grade worked hard to sell as many product as we could, AdVENTURE raised ______! In my opinion, this project showcases my best work in the class because it exposed me to a real world situation. After experiencing and learning how to handle aspects  of a business, my team and I really benefitted and grew as students. Furthermore, will all the subjects and teachers who supported the students and this project, I feel I really reached my full potential.
