Mayan Civilization

In history, one of our units was the ancient Central and South American civilizations, including the Mayans, Incas, and Aztecs. To learn more about these civilization, the class was assigned a project. You were to choose a civilization and create a presentation about your “trip”. This trip would be to about your experience as if your ancient civilization not been affected by the conquistadors (the civilization that conquered the Central and South American civilizations). It would also inform the class about that civilization’s culture and traditions.

I chose the Mayan civilization, which was located in modern day guatemala, and decided to create

a website as my presentation. I completed it and, as a finished product, it takes you through the Mayan’s history, my “trip”, and modern day guatemala. As you read my website you learn about the Mayan’s traditions, food, clothing, language, religions and worships, etc throughout a day of my “trip”.

I really enjoyed working on this piece of work, because it challenged me to inform an audience through something entertaining, not just a presentation, but in this case, a trip. It was really fun to create an imaginary travel experience and implement information into it, as well.
